Right before all the social-distancing measures and wedding restrictions came to be, Rachel and Joni tied the knot at an intimate, beautiful, llama-filled Victoria Park wedding.
A cloudy sky and a forecast of rain meant that their ceremony had to be moved indoors, but Victoria Park’s cosy Garden Marquee was just as good a place as any to get married in Brisbane. The rain never came, but it’s better to be safe than sorry! There were a few Jewish customs, with Joni’s sisters reading a short passage, kippahs for the men (I took mine home!) and the much-anticipated breaking of the glass – which may have taken a few more stomps than expect, but Joni got there in the end. And after a few tears and laughs, these two playful animal-lovers ran outside to finally play with their wedding llamas.
We then went for a little drive on some golf buggies to get some wedding photos around Victoria Park’s scenic spots, including a pretty flower hedge, and a picturesque hill overlooking the Brisbane skyline.
Rachel and Joni opted for a more casual cocktail style reception in the Garden Marquee, including build-your-own nachos, an ice-cream stand, and plenty of drinks to finish off the night.
