After postponing their wedding from 2021, Sarah & Matt finally tied the knot at their small and intimate wedding at Spicers Hidden Vale. After shooting a few times there, it's quickly becoming a favourite spot for me. It's got beautiful scenery, heaps of spots for photos, and excellent food. Plus it's not that far a drive from Brisbane! Sarah and Matt chose to get married underneath the trees next to the barn, with the sun going in and out of the clouds, with their heartfelt ceremony officiated by the awesome Kate Totman.
Sarah and Matt were an absolute joy to photograph and to hang out with. Easy-going, fun and bubbly, and deeply in love with each other. I also brought along a few rolls of film to shoot on, which made for some pretty cool results. If you're interested in film photography at your wedding, just let me know when getting in touch.
A few words from Sarah:
What made you choose Spicers Hidden Vale as your wedding venue?
We visited Spicers Hidden Vale a few years ago for our anniversary and we instantly fell in love! It is a beautiful venue set on 12,000 acres of bushland and is only an hour's drive from Brisbane. The accommodation of renovated Queenslanders and cottages, award-wedding restaurant, and bespoke service absolutely sealed the deal for us.
Do you have a favourite memory of your wedding day?
If we had to choose, it would be our ceremony: seeing each other for the first time, saying our personalised vows, being there with our nearest and dearest, the sun shining on us! It was magical and we could not have been more grateful.
What advice would you give to future couples?
We snuck away after our ceremony and before taking photos to do a bit of touch ups. We genuinely needed to touch a few things up (wedding day things), but it ended up being about 10 minutes away from everyone just to say hi to each other, laugh a little, debrief and just reconnect. Our advice to couples is to do the same - schedule it into your run sheet even! Advice two, if you can afford it, you won't regret getting videography as well as photography. The day really, truly goes by quickly, and having both the pictures and the footage to relive the day has been money well spent.
