THE REFINERY Wedding

CHLOE & ZANDER

1 - 1

Voted in as Brisbane's best wedding venue a few years back, If you haven't already been to or heard of this renovated warehouse event space, here's my rundown of one of my favourite wedding venues. In fact, I actually chose The Refinery for my own wedding reception!

Based in the north end of Newstead on Austin St, The Refinery is an elegantly styled warehouse hosted by the team behind Rogue Bar and Bistro - so obviously, the food and service is a stand out. They act as both a ceremony and reception space, with a private and intimate garden space for wedding ceremonies. It was a gloomy and rainy day for Chloe and Zander, but thankfully the Refinery has a roof that can be pulled in for wet weather weddings.

Also I can't mention the Refinery without shouting out Rachel - she's one of the best wedding coordinators in the biz, and you'll go into the whole process of planning and executing your wedding together feeling like friends! She's that super organised, professional friend who always plans things - you know the one.

Chloe and her girls got their hair and makeup done in the green-room out the back, whilst Zander and his boys were just a fence away waiting for the girls to get glitzed up. After a few final touches, and making Zander sweat a bit, Chloe walked down the aisle with her dad to find Zander unable to hold back his tears. After their vows (with a Friends reference sprinkled in somewhere), and an air-make-out sesh before the first kiss, Chloe and Zander walked down the aisle as husband and wife to an epic confetti toss.

We cut down on bridal portraits afterwards, partly due to the rain, and partly because Newstead House was covered in scaffolding, but also because they couldn't wait to get back to everyone and start the party. Chloe and Zander opted for a more casual cocktail style of reception with roaming canapés - but if you're after the more traditional seated reception dinner, The Refinery does both extremely well! And if you're getting canapés, you cannot pass on the mac and cheese croquettes.

The drinks flowed, everyone ate until they were stuffed, we listened to some heartfelt speeches, and Chloe and Zander "cut" their cake, one of the craziest desserts I've ever seen. And like all good parties, the dance floor was a huge hit. Chloe and Zander's wedding at the Refinery was full of energy, fun, and a really good time.
