If you're looking for an inner-city venue, a wedding at Lightspace is something you've probably thought about. And if you haven't, you should! Located on the edge of Fortitude Valley and Bowen Hills, Lightspace is a large warehouse venue with two different spaces, and a raw, industrial vibe. The main hall space can act as your ceremony spot during the day, and become transformed at night into your reception area, seating up to 200 guests or 300 guests cocktail-style. There's also a smaller, cosier lounge area next to the bar, for smaller events or a place for your guests to chill and relax with a drink. It's a really flexible venue, at a convenient location, with a unique aesthetic, which makes it one of Brisbane's best spots for a wedding, in my opinion.

Kathy and David's Lightspace wedding was a bit unique, and they really made the most of the venue. They had told their guests that the evening was an engagement party, and their wedding was to be held the next year - but they actually planned a surprise wedding ceremony for that day. So after an hour or so of refreshments and grazing, Kathy's brother-in-law broke the news to everyone and the engagement party became a wedding. We moved to the other side of Lightspace, where everything was already set-up (they had told their guests that it was for a wedding the next day), and Kathy and David were married soon after.

There were a few quick photos outside with their doggos, and we went back inside for their wedding reception - a chilled out, cocktail-style party with a full bar tab (much to my delight), a woodfired pizza food truck, free caricatures, and Amy Kate dishing out acoustic tunes all night. It was intimate, it was full of laughter and tears, and it was uniquely them.
